I (along with Ivana Trump) was among the visitors to stay in its hallowed walls last week.

The Fair:
WHERE: Miami Beach Convention Center.
WHAT: The contemporary-art world’s foremost American gathering.
WHEN: December 4–7.
HIGHLIGHTS: Twenty-five of the 250 exhibiting galleries are here for the first time, including Air de Paris and Greenberg Van Doren Gallery.
• An endless slate of other art events scheduled to coincide with the Art Basel, including the smaller Nada, Pulse, Scope, and Design Miami fairs.

Even the most intrepid art lovers tire of looking at work in the confines of the booths and hotel rooms that make up Art Basel Miami Beach and its constellation of satellite fairs. Perhaps the best antidote for weary fairgoers is a twirl through the city’s public and private museums, which provide far airier quarters.

MIAMI.- Russian Dreams… presents a selection of cutting-edge works by contemporary artists from Russia. On view at the Bass Museum of Art from December 4, 2008 to February 8, 2009, the exhibition explores Russian art’s evolution from the pre-Glasnost era to the present day. Russian Dreams… is a collaboration between the Bass Museum of Art and the Multimedia Art Museum, Moscow.
